helping you to meet your statutory duties

Domestic abuse act compliancy

Section 4 of the Domestic Abuse Act (2021) has placed a number of new duties on Local Authorities across England and Wales. We can help you in meeting these requirements in a number of ways:

  • Needs assessment: We can conduct a specific safe accommodation needs assessment in line with the Act, or go beyond this and ensure a whole system needs assessment. We can also offer ongoing support for your annual refresh.

  • Independent Chair for your Local Partnership Board: The Act has enforced the requirement for all areas to have a local Board, with the statutory guidance setting out regulations for how this should operate. It is not a requirement to have an independent Chair, but we believe this is the most effective way to ensure all agencies

  • Compliancy audit: Not sure whether your local area is fully DA Act compliant? We can conduct an audit and give you advice on how you could strengthen your response in line with the Act.

  • Safe accommodation research: Your needs assessment may have highlighted key issues you would like to understand more about, or identified a problem you would like to solve. We can support you through specific research around safe accommodation and domestic abuse.

  • Commissioning advice and support: Our associates have considerable experience in the full commissioning cycle. We understand the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities commissioning requirements under the Act and would be pleased to offer specific consultancy to advise, support or coordinate your safe accommodation commissioning.

domestic homicide reviews

Domestic Homicide Review’s are a statutory duty for all Community Safety Partnerships (CSPs) across England and Wales. They aim to enable lessons to be learned from homicides where a person is killed or dies by suicide as a result of domestic abuse. We offer several services to support you to ensure high quality reviews that make an impact:

  • Chair and author service: We can provide an associate to independently Chair your review and author the report to Home Office quality standards.

  • Thematic DHR review service: If you have conducted several reviews within your area, it may be time for a thematic review to understand wider learning.

  • Process audit and design: We know that the DHR process itself can be complex. Our support to review your current processes will ensure your process is robust and efficient.

  • Training: We can offer training to your panel members or wider stakeholders around the DHR process such as ‘how to be an effective panel member’. We will work with you to understand your needs and design a package to suit you.
